The Hendersonville Police Department begins accepting applications Friday for Santa Cop assistance for Christmas 2017.
The Santa Cop program is a result of Hendersonville Police Department employees’ desire to provide a nice Christmas for those who would otherwise have none. Each year approximately 25 to 30 families are selected as recipients of food, and toys for children. While the primary target is children (some years there are approximately 100 needy children involved), there are also a few senior citizens, usually living alone, who are selected as recipients.
Applications for Santa Cop assistance can be picked up at the Hendersonville Police Department located at 3 Executive Park Drive. Applicants will complete the applications and return them to the police department.
Deadline for receipt of all applications for Santa Cop is Friday, Nov. 17.
The Santa Cop program is operated by an all volunteer staff of Hendersonville Police Department employees and is possible solely as a result of donations. Donations of cash, new toys and gift cards are needed each year.
Those interested in donating, please make your donations of money payable to Hendersonville Santa Cop and mail it to the Hendersonville Police Department, ATTN: Santa Cop, 3 Executive Park Drive, Hendersonville, TN 37075, or drop it off at the police department.
Donations can be dropped off at the Hendersonville Police Department. No item should be gift wrapped.
The success of Santa Cop in our efforts to assist those in need is solely dependent upon donations.
